The 98 Degrees Group offers financial products targeted specifically at the mining sector. Our focus is on providing a unique tailor-made, cost-effective product that serves both employers and employees.
The 98 Degrees Group originally entered the mining sector with a focus on gold mining employee benefit financial product offerings. As we worked with employers and employees, we discovered gaps that exposed employers to financial risk and the potential of open-ended liability in relation to their employees.
We thus designed a suite of insured financial products for employers in the mining sector that resulted in a simultaneous reduction in costs and an enhancement of employee benefit structures.
Having worked in the mining sector for many years, 98Degrees has developed partnerships and networks with top industry players.
We have been privileged to play a role in various projects and programmes requiring medical strategy, including some of South Africa’s largest listed mining houses. The 98 Degrees Group facilitated the disposals of non-core healthcare assets, as well as subsequently implementing a healthcare strategy to ensure the employer met its continued healthcare obligations to its employees.
This ultimately culminated in the development of a tailored occupational policy, which simultaneously restricted and in certain cases eliminated the employers’ exposure to financial risk.
